Middle East Bank

Middle East bank is a one of the medium sized fast growing banks in Kenya. They already an existing website but needed a redesign. The redesign was motivated by new branding that they had adopted. Their current site did not reflect their new branding and besides that their old website was not properly done as it had broken links and had difficulty in updating. Before we began the work, we had a requirements gathering meeting to determine the clients expectations of their new website. We also visited their existing website in order to identify the existing loopholes and determine how to avoid them. Design first began with prototyping where we had several wireframes drawn. One of the tools that we use for wireframing is Balasmiq which comes in handy when drawing website sketches/wireframes. After drawing the sketches we went ahead and used Adobe Photoshop to lay out the PSD’s of the wireframes drawn. Adobe Photoshop is essential because of the nice graphics. It also allowed the client to visualize how the website is going to appear in JPEG format. The JPEG format is also the one that we shared with the client for feedback. Based on the feedback we got we had a number of iterations until we finally settled on a design :). Iterations are part of web design, it’s only a problem when the client does not know what he wants and this can be a pain to the designer :(. The website runs on Pyro CMS a very stable CMS that I easy to customize and allows developers to separate design from development. It uses PHP programming language and a structure similar to Code Igniter. The CMS also has a user friendly backend that allows easy content management. As a matter of fact the Middle East Bank website content managers have reported that it’s easy to use!
