Digital Vision East Africa has developed a comprehensive Database Management Information System (DMIS) for Equity Group Foundation to support its initiatives: Wings to Fly, Entrepreneurship Education, and Financial Education programs. This system has transformed the foundation’s operations, creating a streamlined, efficient approach to managing program applications and tracking participants’ progress.
The Wings to Fly program offers educational sponsorship to financially disadvantaged, high-achieving students, enabling them to pursue a quality education without financial barriers. Previously, Equity Group Foundation relied on a manual application process, where applicants collected forms at branch locations, filled them out, and returned them for evaluation. With over 1,000 applicants annually, this manual system was time-consuming and inefficient.
Now, with the DMIS, students and guardians can apply directly online, greatly reducing the time required for application processing and evaluation. Additionally, the DMIS enables the foundation to view school-submitted fee structures, facilitating fast and accurate fee disbursement directly to the schools.
Beyond the Wings to Fly program, the Entrepreneurship and Financial Education programs provide crucial training to small-scale traders, equipping them with practical skills to grow and manage their businesses more effectively. Through the DMIS, Equity Group Foundation can efficiently manage these programs, monitor progress, and provide ongoing support to participants.
